Ayşen Candaş is an associate professor of political science at Bogazici University in Istanbul. Candas specializes in the history of political thought, theories of justice, theories of democracy, constitutionalism, social policy, pluralism, women’s rights, minority rights, comparative study of Muslim-majority countries, and Turkey. Her areas of interest also include democratization and de-democratization, secularism in Turkey, social policies associated with regime types, freedom of conscience, freedom of expression, liberal and democratic rights.
Her published works include “Struggles Imposed by the New Hierarchical Citizenship Regime on Marginalized Groups and the LGBTI Movement” (2015), and Inequalities in Turkey (with VolkanYılmaz et.al, İstanbul: Bilnet Press).
