Frédéric Gros is professor of political thought at Sciences-po Paris. He is the editor of several of Michel Foucault’s lectures at the Collège de France – Subjectivité et vérité, L’Herméneutique du sujet, Le Gouvernement de soi et des autres, Le Courage de la vérité and is the chief editor of Foucault’s complete works in la Pléiade (Gallimard, Bibliothèque de la Pléiade). His research interests include French contemporary philosophy; the foundation of the right to punish; war and security; and the ethics of the political subject (namely through the problem of obedience/disobedience).
He is the author of Michel Foucault (1996); Foucault et la folie (1997); États de violence : essai sur la fin de la guerre (2006); Marcher, une philosophie (2008); Le Principe sécurité (2012).
