Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak is University Professor, and a founding member of the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society. \u00a0Her fields of study span from the 19th- and 20th-century literature; politics of culture; feminism; Marx and Derrida; to globalization. Her most recent publications include the 2016 fortieth-anniversary edition of Jacques Derrida\u2019s\u00a0Of Grammatology<\/em>,\u00a0Readings<\/em>\u00a0(2014), and\u00a0An Aesthetic Education in the Age of Globalization<\/em>\u00a0(2012).<\/p>\n Spivak has written numerous books and articles, including\u00a0In Other Worlds: Essays in Cultural Politics<\/em>\u00a0(1987; Routledge Classic 2002),\u00a0Thinking Academic Freedom in Gendered Post-Coloniality<\/em>\u00a0(1993; 2d ed forthcoming),\u00a0Outside in the Teaching Machine<\/em>\u00a0(1993; Routledge classic 2003),\u00a0Imperatives to Re-Imagine the Planet \/ Imperative zur Neuerfindung des Planeten<\/em>\u00a0(ed. Willi Goetschel, 1999; 2d ed. forthcoming),\u00a0A Critique of Postcolonial Reason: Towards a History of the Vanishing Present<\/em>\u00a0(1999),\u00a0Death of a Discipline<\/em>\u00a0(2003) and\u00a0Other Asias<\/em>\u00a0(2005). She has translated and introduced several texts by Mahasweta Devi and Ramproshad Sen.
