She has been at the New School for Social Research since 2004, where she was the founding chair of its revitalized Anthropology Department. Ann Stoler is the Founding Director of the Institute for Critical Social Inquiry (ICSI) and one of the founding editors of the journal\u00a0<em>Political Concepts: A Critical Lexicon.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Her books include:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dukeupress.edu\/duress\"><em>Duress: Imperial Durabilities in Our Times<\/em><\/a><em>\u00a0<\/em>(2016), the edited volume<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dukeupress.edu\/imperial-debris\">\u00a0<em>Imperial Debris: On Ruins and Ruination<\/em>\u00a0<\/a>(Duke University Press, 2013),\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/press.princeton.edu\/titles\/8821.html\">Along the Archival Grain: Epistemic Anxieties and Colonial Common Sense<\/a><\/em>\u00a0(Princeton University Press, 2009),\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dukeupress.edu\/race-and-the-education-of-desire\">Race and the Education of Desire: Foucault\u2019s History of Sexuality and the Colonial Order of Things<\/a><\/em>\u00a0(Duke University Press, 1995).<\/p>\n<p>Professor Stoler has been a visiting distinguished professor at the \u00c9cole des hautes \u00e9tudes and at the \u00c9cole Normale Sup\u00e9rieure in Paris and is recipient of the Fulbright, Guggenheim, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Science Foundation, and Social Science Research Council fellowships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ann Laura Stoler is Willy Brandt Distinguished University Professor of Anthropology and Historical Studies at The New School for Social Research.
