Barbara Stiegler is a member of the\u00a0Institut universitaire de France (IUF) and an Associate Professor at the University of Bordeaux Montaigne, where she directs the Masters program on “Care, ethics, and health”.<\/p>\n
She is a specialist in German philosophy, and has authored two books:\u00a0Nietzsche et la biologie,\u00a0<\/i>Paris, Presses universitaires de France, coll. \u00ab\u00a0Philosophies\u00a0\u00bb, 2001, and Nietzsche et la critique de la chair. Dionysos, Ariane, le Christ,\u00a0<\/i>Paris, Presses universitaires de France, coll. \u00ab\u00a0 Epim\u00e9th\u00e9e\u00a0\u00bb, 2005, 2011.<\/p>\n
As a continuation to her first research project on the passage from biology to politics, at present she is interested in the darwinian\u00a0and American sources of contemporary political thought. She is currently\u00a0finishing a new book on the evolutionary\u00a0sources of neoliberalism. In this book, Stiegler sheds light on the different tensions that criss-cross the contemporary political field in the domain of the government of life and the living. In order to do so, she engages in a conversation with the Walter Lippmann\/John Dewey debate on liberal democracy, the political sense of the darwinian revolution, and the reconstruction of liberalism.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
