She holds degrees in Philosophy and French and a doctorate from the University of Amsterdam. A specialist of Maurice Blanchot, she worked on his criticism and fiction, focusing on their aesthetic and ethical dimension especially in relation to Emmanuel Levinas (<em>Maurice Blanchot. L\u2019\u00e9criture comme exp\u00e9rience du dehors, <\/em>Droz, Geneva, 1995). European Modernism and the question of literary creativity is a second area of interest of hers, especially in the work of Marcel Proust (<em>Le moi cr\u00e9ateur dans A la recherche du temps perdu,<\/em> L\u2019Harmattan, 2002). She is also one of the editors of the scholarly review <em>Marcel Proust Aujourd\u2019hui\/Today <\/em>(Brill, Leiden). The memory of World War II and of the Holocaust in French and French-Jewish literature is her third, more topical research area, particularly in the work of second generation authors and child survivors (<em>Perec, Modiano, Raczymow. <\/em><em>La g\u00e9n\u00e9ration d\u2019apr\u00e8s et la m\u00e9moire de la Shoah, <\/em>\u00a0Amsterdam, Rodopi, 2008\u00a0; <em>T\u00e9moignages de l\u2019apr\u00e8s-Auschwitz dans la litt\u00e9rature juive-fran\u00e7aise. Her current research is on Paris urban space as a carrier of personal and collective memory in the work of Georges Perec.
