Currently, he chairs the Scientific Committee of the Universit\u00e9 de l\u2019Assurance and is a fellow of the French Technological Academy.<\/p>\n<p>Ewald recently retired as professor of insurance at the Conservatoire National des Arts et M\u00e9tiers (Paris) and as director of the \u00c9cole nationale d\u2019assurances (Paris). His research interests are in the fields of risk and the philosophy of risk, and his publications include\u00a0<em>L\u2019Etat providence<\/em>\u00a0(1986) and\u00a0<em>Le Principe de precaution<\/em>\u00a0(2001, 2008).<\/p>\n<p>Born in Paris, Ewald pursued his interests in philosophy, law, and psychoanalysis in a university setting and obtained his Ph.D. in political science from the Institut d\u2019Etudes Politiques (Paris).<\/p>\n<p>He is the editor as well of Foucault\u2019s\u00a0<em>Dits et Ecrits\u00a0<\/em>(with Daniel Defert).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fran\u00e7ois Robert Ewald is the general editor of the entire series of Michel Foucault\u2019s Coll\u00e8ge de France lectures and was Foucault\u2019s principal assistant at the Coll\u00e8ge de France.
