For many of us, those avenues have been fertile ground for our own theorization, for others fertile ground for critique. They represent, as Foucault intended, rich and productive \u201cpistes de recherches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the publication of the entire series of lectures at the Coll\u00e8ge de France\u2014the last, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Jmdvrf2_kAM\" target=\"_blank\">Th\u00e9ories et institutions p\u00e9nales<\/a><\/em> (1971\u20131972) just released in May 2015\u2014it is now time to read them<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Foucault and May 68\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Jmdvrf2_kAM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>chronologically:\u00a0 to grasp the overall project of those lectures at the Coll\u00e8ge, to discuss the full trajectory, and to continue to excavate our own \u201cpistes de recherche\u201d building on Foucault\u2019s (The seminars in French are all published by the \u00c9ditions de l&#8217;EHESS\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.editions.ehess.fr\/recherche-google\/?cx=010256854857791022008%3Apvomslk-ffq&amp;q=Michel+Foucault+College+de+France&amp;sa=Rechercher&amp;siteurl=editions.ehess.fr%2Fouvrages%2Fhistoire-de-la-pensee%2F&amp;ref=editions.ehess.fr%2Fouvrages%2Fouvrage%2Fsubjectivite-et-verite%2F&amp;ss=7009j4331985j47&amp;cof=FORID%3A11\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>; English translations are published\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/us.macmillan.com\/series\/lecturesatthecollegedefrance\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.palgrave.com\/series\/results\/MF\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, but are missing 1981\u00a0<i>Subjectivity and Truth<\/i>; and 1972\u00a0<i>Penal Theories and Institutions. <\/i>The English version of\u00a0<em>La Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Punitive<\/em> will be out very soon.).<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/web.law.columbia.edu\/contemporary-critical-thought\/about-us\" target=\"_blank\">Columbia Center for Contemporary Critical Thought<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/societyoffellows.columbia.edu\" target=\"_blank\">Columbia Society of Fellows in the Humanities<\/a>, with the support of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maisonfrancaise.org\" target=\"_blank\">Maison Fran\u00e7aise<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/icls.columbia.edu\" target=\"_blank\">Institute for Comparative Literature and Society<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/laic.columbia.edu\" target=\"_blank\">Department of Latin American and Iberian Cultures<\/a>, are delighted to host 13 seminars on the 13 courses. The seminar series\u2014Foucault 13\/13\u2014will extend over the full 2015\u20132016 academic year at Columbia University. The seminar series will be open to Columbia faculty, fellows, and students, as well as faculty and students from other New York universities.<\/p>\n<p>Each seminar will be led by distinguished scholars from different disciplines.
