She was previously an associate editor and contributor to the<em>\u00a0Nation<\/em>, where she earned a 2014 Media for a Just Society Award for her writing on prison profiteering.<\/p>\n<p>Currently senior editor at\u00a0<em>The Intercept<\/em>, her work there has earned the Texas Gavel Award and the Innocence Network Journalism Award. In 2019 she was honored in the Abolitionist category of the Frederick Douglass 200, a recognition given by the Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives and the Antiracist Research and Policy Center at American University.<\/p>\n<p>Segura has appeared on NPR,\u00a0MSNBC,\u00a0CNN International, Democracy Now!, and numerous other outlets. Her writing has\u00a0appeared\u00a0in the\u00a0<em>Washington Post<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Colorlines<\/em>\u00a0and has been\u00a0reprinted in outlets ranging\u00a0from\u00a0prison magazines to the anthologies\u00a0<em>The Best American Legal Writing<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Against Equality: Prisons Will Not Protect You<\/em>.
