About

The Columbia Law School chapter of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund (SALDF) consists of students who understand the rapidly growing field of animal law and seek the skills to protect animal welfare through law reform.  The chapter is devoted to publishing animal law scholarship, doing research for attorneys working on animal law cases, and educating the wider law school community about this new area of law that constantly intersects more “traditional” areas – including tort, criminal, contract, trust & estates, family, and constitutional law.  Activities include speaker events, vegan bake sales raising money for animal rights causes, and film screenings.  Additionally, SALDF is committed to ensuring that Columbia Law School continues to offer animal law classes and seminars.
