Black Law Students Association Celebrates at Annual Paul Robeson Gala
Joined by alumni, friends, and faculty, Columbia Law School’s Black Law Students Association (BLSA) honored esteemed alumnus, Paul Robeson ’23, at the annual Paul Robeson Gala. BLSA presented the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award to Judge U.W. Clemon ’68, an eminent civil rights attorney and Alabama’s first black federal judge, while Della Britton Baeza ’78, head of the Jackie Robinson Foundation, delivered the keynote address. Students in Adolescent Representation Clinic Advocate in Albany
In an effort to advocate for more resources to support vulnerable youth transitioning out of foster care, Professor Jane Spinak and the students in her Adolescent Representation Clinic met with lawmakers in Albany earlier this month. Professor Spinak, a renowned children’s rights advocate, created the Clinic to address the legal challenges foster children and teenagers face. Learn more.
Columbia Law School Federalist Society Honored
After an incredibly successful year in which members hosted almost 40 events on campus, the Columbia Law School Federalist Society was awarded the “James Madison Chapter of the Year” at the National Student Symposium. The James Madison Award recognizes chapters that demonstrate excellence in organizing debates and speeches on a wide variety of topics, enriching the intellectual diversity of a law school’s community.
