This week the National LGBT Bar Association announced it’s annual list of best LGBT lawyers under 40.  We’re proud to claim three of the forty as “ours” from Columbia:

Virginia Tent graduated from Columbia Law School in 2003 (in a dual degree program with Johns Hopkins SAIS).  She is a litigation associate in the New York office of Latham & Watkins where she concentrates on antitrust and trade regulation issues, including civil antitrust litigation, government investigations, and advice regarding antitrust issues in mergers and acquisitions, competitor collaborations and industry associations.

Justin Carroll graduated from Columbia Law School in 2008 and practices now at Jones Day where he focuses on business restructuring and reorganization.  He is also a member of the board of managers of the Vanderbilt YMCA in Manhattan, where he currently serves as vice chair of the board and as chair of the Fund Development Committee. He is also a board member of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund Campaign Board and sits on Lambda Legal’s New York City Leadership Committee.



Joseph Landau who just finished a two-year post as an Associate in Law at Columbia Law School.  Joe is now an Associate Professor of Law at Fordham Law School where he teaches courses in civil procedure, national security and immigration law.  His scholarship focuses on federal courts, national security, administrative law and immigration law.  He is Board Chairman of Immigration Equality and the Immigration Equality Action Fund, which engage in education, litigation, outreach and lobbying on behalf of LGBT and HIV-positive immigrants and asylum-seekers.  In addition, he is a member of the New York City Bar Association’s LGBT Rights Committee.

The Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40 Class of 2012 will be recognized at the 2012 Lavender Law Conference being held August 23-25, 2012 in Washington, DC.
