As the centennial of the 1917 Jones Act approaches, I am delighted to share with you that Dr. Christina Duffy-Ponsa will be one of the distinguished participants taking part in the symposium “One-Hundred Years of the Jones Act & Puerto Rican U.S. Citizenship”, examining the history and legacy of the naturalization of Puerto Ricans as United States citizens.

The Center for Puerto Rican Studies (Centro) invites you to attend to a one-day-long program, featuring a wide range of participants that will further discuss the implications and challenges of the 1917 Jones Act. The event will take place on Friday, October 16th, 2015 at the CUNY Silberman School of Social Work at 2180 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10035. The event will be live streamed and participants of the livestream are expected to participate actively through Twitter, using the hashtag: #puertoricansonline.
