Located conveniently on 127th Street, within walking distance from the law school, students can fulfill pro bono requirements by doing independent research, working with staff attorneys on immigration cases, or following through with housing and other related cases.

2009 Irell & Manella Prize

The 2009 recipient of the Irell & Manella Prize will receive a cash award of $3,800.
The Columbia Law School student organization of the 2009 recipient’s choice will receive an additional cash award of $3,800.

Put your good works to work by applying today for the Irell & Manella Prize at Columbia Law School. The Prize is open to 1L Columbia Law School students whose outstanding leadership and good citizenship helped to create a sense of community and engagement among his/her peers during the first year of law school.

April 1, 2009

The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize outlines his vision for a new business model that combines the power of free markets with the quest for a more humane world—and tells the inspiring stories of companies that are doing this work today.

Muhammad Yunus, a native of Bangladesh, was educated at Dhaka University and was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to study economics at Vanderbilt University. In 1972 he became head of the economics department at Chittagong University. He is the founder and managing director of Grameen Bank, a pioneer of microcredit, an economic movement that has helped lift millions of families around the world out of poverty. Yunus and Grameen Bank are winners of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize.
